Smooth Sailing on the Brown Snake
I was recently in Brisbane, the vibrant place where I grew up, and I found that the boat yard always fascinated me. It seemed so strange to think that a person could live there, predominantly on the water, and still be so wonderfully calm. For a long time, water represented, to me, unsteadiness and unpredictability, but after watching these graceful boats gently bobbing softly in the waves, I realized that water can be just as calming as it is unpredictable. I made this artwork in response to my realization and the serene way of life of the water people who call this unique environment home.
